I figured that almost any firearm is worth $85. There was no manual for this weapon and I went on line, what I read is scaring the crap out of me.

When charged properly and safely, you'll find handling a front stuffer is more fun, and you won't break a wooden ramrod and possibly jam it into your hand or arm. Take my advice and spare the rod and enjoy more muzzle-loading shooting.

Hopefully this will all go in one smooth push, if not put your palm on top of the ram rod and give it a good hard push to get the ball seated. I usually give the ramrod 3 good hard smacks to make sure the ball is seated on top of the powder.

Get a quoteDec 08, 2012 · I am having a problem with the CVA Optima rifle that I just purchased. I am only wanting to use 90 grains of 777 for my charge - loose powder. When I volume measure out 90 grains of 777 and then pour it into the barrel and then when I attempt to tamp the 777 with the ramrod that came with the rifle, the ramrod is not long enough to reach the 90 grains of powder.

Get a quoteJan 10, 2020 · I have the same gun I bought 2 years ago, here's what I ended up doing with mine. I bought a CVA palm saver ram rod and use that, I unscrew the brass end and when I need to reload I thread it on and go. I hated the Tee handle that slides onto the ramrod. Now I use the original ramrod as a cleaning ramrod.
Get a quoteThe purpose of the rod end was twofold – it provided a powder measure so that the charge loaded was always exactly right, and it allowed the loader to insert the powder right into the breech rather than pour it down the barrel from the muzzle (you hold the pistol muzzle down and insert the rod fully, then turn them muzzle up).
Get a quoteJan 25, 2010 · This is a fine book, but don't use this method of barrel attachment. It is very hard to slot the pinhole; if you don't slot it, and the wood shrinks while the barrel expands in a heated area, you will find (as I did) that the pin is locked in, creating a real chore to remove. I use 1/16" diameter oil-hardening drill rod for my pins.

These tight loading sabots allow more pressure to be created. When shot, the sound is entirely different than a loose bullet. Ka POW! I absolutely love my tight loading sabots.
